7th Grade Wire Sculptures
The seventh grade recently studied the use of wire in sculpture. Through the exhibition lens of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, students looked at the work of Alexander Calder, who pioneered the use of wire in his sculptures, as well as those influenced by him: Robin Wight, David Oliveira and Tomohiro Inaba. Using sculptural wire, the students experimented with tools and techniques for making 2D portraits and 3D sculptures of hands.
